This is my personal review of the Amazing Cover Letter Creator, the resume cover letter creating software that my niece brought over. I rarely rave about a product but in this case I really feel I must. It changed the life of both my niece and her best friend and it taught this old dog a lesson or two.
My advice to my niece and her best friend was definitely on the right track. I knew that the cover letter was actually much more important than the resume. Without a great resume cover letter, the hiring manager would likely never even review the resume. He or she would have just tossed it aside along with all the other rejects. I definitely knew and stressed to both of them that it was important to use the cover letter as a sales tool and not just produce the same ol' boring drab so called "professional" (usually from a template) resume that most other applicants would submit. BUT... and this is a really really big BUT... as much as I have written, I've never written SALES COPY... and that is exactly what this amazing software does for you in a very short amount of time... it literally only takes a few minutes. It takes the information that you put in and spits out magical phrases that leap off the page and scream, "hire me, I'm the best!" It is marketing at it's finest. It produces such convincing copy that it is going to stop any hiring manager cold in their tracks. They will instantly want to pull pull that person in for an interview... and obviously that increases your odds of actually landing the job tremendously. In fact, they'll already be primed to hire you. Remember, my niece's job had 187 qualified applicants!!! She ended up winning out over all of them and we know the resume cover letter is what got her the interview (they only interviewed 8 people).
I have researched Jimmy Sweeney, the author of "Amazing Cover Letters," thoroughly. He has been in the marketing field for more than two decades and is currently at the height of his career. He knows how to "sell" people with perfectly written marketing materials... and the way he approaches creating the perfect cover letter is treating the resume cover letter like it is a sales letter where the #1 goal is landing you the interview. He is a marketing master and it shows.
We were not only able to create a single resume cover letter but a completely different custom one for each job my niece applied for. Each one took only a few minutes. I'm not exaggerating at all. It was like a miracle and the copy was pure gold. We did tweak it a little bit more but we could have left them exactly as they came out. Both my niece and Sandra said their interviewers specifically commented on how good their cover letter was.
